NWACA will be celebrating Purple Up! for Military Kids Day on April 16. Faculty, staff, and students may wear purple clothing on Friday to show their support for children of military families.

The U.S. Department of Defense recognizes April each year as Month of the Military Child. More than 14,000 Arkansans serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. Many serve on active duty while others serve in the reserve forces and in the National Guard. More than 5,200 military children are enrolled in Arkansas public schools. Children of military families face unique academic and social challenges. The sacrifices they make because of their parents’ military service deserves special recognition.
